Call For Papers: Contemporary Debates in German Idealism
Keynote: Daniel O. Dahlstrom (Boston University)
Friday, April 17-Sunday, April 19, 2015
Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio
We invite abstracts of 750 words for papers on issues of current interest in German idealism
(broadly construed). We welcome submissions addressing figures and topics in German
philosophy from 1770-1850, including canonical figures like Kant, Fichte, Schelling, and Hegel,
and representatives of other movements including German romanticism, and interpreters and
critics of idealism. Papers on any topic will be considered, however, papers that take up a
particular issue of debate in recent scholarship will be given special consideration.
While all are welcome to submit, we will give special consideration to work by early career
scholars (tenure-track, untenured, post-docs, and graduate students). We look forward to a
three-day meeting of sustained inquiry and discussion among all participants. We anticipate
talks of 30 minutes (~4000 words), with 30 minutes discussion for each paper.
Please submit abstracts to brownleet@xavier.edu by November 1, 2014 that include, title,
abstract, contatct information, and your current position. We will send out notifications of
accepted talks by December 1, 2014.
Hosted by the Department of Philosophy at Xavier University. For more information, contact Dr.
Gabriel Gottlieb (gottliebg@xavier.edu) or Dr. Timothy Brownlee (brownleet@xavier.edu).
