The Department of Philosophy at Memorial University has many full-time philosophy faculty members working in some area of the history of philosophy and continental philosophy. It offers particular strengths in the following: ancient and medieval philosophy, Kant and German idealism, aesthetics, moral and political philosophy, feminist philosophy, contemporary European philosophy, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mind. The department offers a B.A., an M.A., and a Ph.D. in philosophy, with funding available for both M.A. and Ph.D. students. It is an active and vibrant community that hosts weekly departmental talks and a weekly meeting called Jockey Club, where professors, students, and members of the community meet to discuss important philosophical texts.
