Philosophy at the University of Oregon is characterized by a living, integrated pluralism that embraces inquires across philosophical perspectives and academic disciplines. We draw especially from the traditions of Continental Philosophy, American Philosophy, and Feminist Philosophy. Within our Continental focus, we approach the history of philosophy as a way of addressing fundamental philosophical issues. We also have strong interests in the moral, social, and political dimensions of this tradition. We thus see Continental Philosophy as a vital cross-disciplinary orientation that includes critical theory, deconstruction, feminism, genealogy, hermeneutics, and phenomenology.
