The Philosophy Department, one of the nation’s largest, was recently ranked 11th in the United States, based on a survey of nearly 200 philosophers conducted by the Philosophical Gourmet Report. The department’s national standing has steadily improved in the last few years, and, thanks to strong administrative support for additional hiring in the near future, the department expects to establish itself firmly among the nation’s very best programs. The Report ranks the Department as good or excellent (rating 4.0 or better) in the following areas:
