The SPEP Executive Committee is pleased to announce the results of this year’s online elections. Shannon Sullivan has been elected to a three-year term as Executive Co-Director. Shannon will replace outgoing Executive Co-Director Gail Weiss after the Business Meeting at this year’s virtual conference. In addition, María del Rosario Acosta López and Adriel Trott have been elected to three-year positions as Members-At-Large on the Executive Committee. María will replace outgoing Member-At-Large Mariana Ortega, and Adriel will replace former Member-At-Large John Protevi after the Business Meeting at the virtual conference. The Executive Committee thanks Alfred Frankowski and Dilek Huseyinzadegan for their willingness to stand for election.
In addition to the above, we would like to remind you that the virtual SPEP conference is fast approaching! SPEP 2021 will take place over two weekends: September 17-18 and September 23-26. Please remember that you must be registered for the conference in order to access the OpenWater virtual platform that we will be using this year. Registration is strongly recommended by September 12 to ensure immediate access to all sessions when the conference begins on September 17. After the conference begins, new registrations will be processed every 24 hours, so participants should register at least 24 hours in advance of any panels they plan to attend. You can register for the conference and pay your dues (required for conference attendance) here: https://www.pdcnet.org/wp/services/2021-spep/
Finally, we would like to bring your attention to the new donation opportunities on the SPEP website and registration page for the 2021 conference. To donate to the Committee on Accessibility, Disability, and Inclusion; the Advocacy Committee; the Racial and Ethnic Diversity Committee; the LGBTQ Advocacy Committee; or the Committee on the Status of Women, you can add a donation amount when you register for the conference or donate via this link.
We look forward to our time together in September!
