and Carmelite Spirituality
August 15–17, 2019, University of Cologne, Germany
Keynote Speakers:
Prof. Anneliese Meis Wörmer (Pontifical University of Chile in Santiago de Chile)
and
Prof. Andreas Speer (Universität zu Köln)
Edith Stein’s (1891–1942) philosophical life followed an intellectual itinerary that started with the thought of Edmund Husserl and phenomenology. It then turned to Christian philosophy and, ultimately, to Carmelite spirituality. The International Association for the Study of the Philosophy of Edith Stein (IASPES) invites submissions that explore Stein’s philosophical corpus from the three aforementioned periods. We welcome papers that discuss the relationships between the various moments of Stein’s intellectual life. Papers on Stein’s philosophy of woman, ontology, politics, community, empathy, philosophical anthropology, and her philosophy of history and psychology are also welcome.
Abstracts (250 words maximum) dealing with the aforementioned themes or those connected to Stein’s philosophy in general may be sent to both Antonio Calcagno (acalcagn@uwo.ca) and Harm Klueting (harm.klueting@uni-koeln.de).
Abstracts and papers are welcome in English, German, French, and Spanish
Deadline for Abstracts: February 15, 2019
