Utah Valley University located in Orem, Utah seeks an Assistant Professor – Philosophy. AOS: Social and Political Philosophy; we are particularly interested in applicants whose teaching and scholarship engage critical, transnational, and/or global social and political theory including but not limited to Indigenous, decolonial, Black, Latin American, and feminist social and political thought. AOC: Open, although the successful candidate will be able to contribute to UVU’s Peace and Justice Studies Program, with relevant experience and/or expertise.
Duties include:
Teach 4 courses per semester (8 per year) in the undergraduate philosophy program at the upper and lower division, including, but not limited to, courses in Social and Political Philosophy, as well as the General Education, courses Ethics and Values and Introduction to Philosophy.
Candidates must be committed to inclusion and openness.
The successful candidate will teach Social and Political Philosophy from a diversity of cultural and theoretical perspectives. Instruction can include internet and evening courses. Candidate must have experience teaching in a college/university setting, must demonstrate scholarly research consistent with disciplinary specialization, and will engage in department and university service, including curriculum development.
