St. Mary’s University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy beginning August 2023. Area of specialization is Latin American philosophy and area of competency is ethics. Candidates for the position should have a Ph.D. in philosophy from an accredited institution. ABD candidates who are expected to receive their doctorate before the start of the appointment will also be considered.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach four classes in fall semesters and four classes in spring semesters for the Department of Philosophy, with the opportunity to teach in interdisciplinary programs, including the Mexican-American Studies program. The ideal candidate will have an active research agenda and experience teaching introduction to philosophy and ethics, both of which are required courses for St. Mary’s core curriculum. Additional duties include holding office hours, advising students, and service to the department, college, and university.
