Nietzsche and Lyric
University of Lausanne, Switzerland
14-16 September 2023
The Friedrich Nietzsche Society (FNS) invites the submission of abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 28th annual FNS meeting. The conference will take place from the 14th-16th of September 2023 in Switzerland, at the University of Lausanne.
Call for abstracts
The lyric dimension of Nietzsche’s philosophy is undeniable, and he often asserts the importance of poetic and artistic expression in his philosophy. But what does it mean to express philosophical ideas as a poet?
This themed conference aims to explore the relation between Nietzsche and the lyric. We welcome papers that explore any aspect of the poetics of Nietzsche’s philosophy, his conception of metaphor and other poetic phenomena, his lyrical production as such, and the broader relation between philosophy and the lyric in his works.
Abstract Guidelines
• Submitted abstracts should be 300-500 words long (500 words is a strict maximum). Abstracts should clearly describe proposals for a 25-minute presentation, must be written in English or German, and must be received by March 1st. We aim to communicate decisions by the end of April.
